When PETA gets on about meat being murder and pets being slaves and how all animals should live free and wild….what is it they actually think happens out there?

Because predation isn’t some freak thing. The average wild animal doesn’t just get old until it passes away “peacefully.” Aging in the wild means wearing down until you can no longer fight back when the predators inevitably come for you, or even the eager enough scavengers, or even the hungry enough herbivores for that matter, and if there genuinely aren’t any flesh-eaters around you’re probably going to just get too feeble to feed or clean yourself properly, septic and fly-blown as you starve and dehydrate. Maybe if you’re lucky enough to be a social species, you’ll get some friends protecting you, but aging is still going to be a gradual and painful shut-down.

I believe in reducing the suffering of livestock, I believe many animals are never meant to be pets, but the wilderness isn’t a romantic cartoon paradise and I don’t believe that humans eating meat or otherwise “using” animals as sustainably as they reasonably can is unethical.

Miia - She squeezed you way too hard and ended up cracking a couple bones. She visits you as soon as she’s allowed to. She stays by your side all day, feeding you your meals and hugging the arm she didn’t mess up. She doesn’t leave until one of the other girls have to come drag her out, per the hospital’s request. She shows up first thing in the morning every day until you get out.

Cerea - Cerea kicked you in the face and you hit your head on the way down. You were unconscious for a while, waking up for a few hours at a time just to fall back out of it. She visited you a few times just to leave sobbing. She felt so bad. When you woke up, she insisted you’re allowed to leave her if you please. Of course you don’t, but she stays away from you for a bit, out of fear she’ll hurt you again. After a while of shying away, she gets on her haunches and hugs you for a really, really long time.

Rachnee - You have a noose burn around your neck and you’re covered in deep scratches. Things got a little heated in the bedroom, needless to say. Rachnee actually comes out of the house to visit you, scaling up the hospital wall late at night to knock on your window. You’ll sit at the window and chat for a while, but strangely enough, she doesn’t even mention where you are or what happened. You quickly recover though, and upon coming home, she quickly hugs you and starts apologizing over and over. You’re officially the first and only person to see her actually cry.

Tio - Cracked ribs and a fractured leg. She likes hugs, okay? She visits you a lot. She stays for a while, bringing a friend occasionally, usually Manako. She likes playing board games and stuff like that while you’re recovering. When you tell her that you forgive her, she immediately scoop you back up, albeit she squeezes a little less.

Zombina - You got shot in the shoulder when she forgot her safety was off for a second. She was pointing it at you as a joke. She was super pissed at herself for letting it happen. She tries to lighten the mood in the hospital by freaking out the doctors with her detachable parts, but you have to sew them back on, despite your arm being bummed out. When you get home, she’s really apologetic until you say you we never mad to begin with. Then she’s all laughs.
